Common questions

What people ask before they buy.

How does automatic fall detection work?
The pendant uses motion sensors to recognize the sudden change in movement that happens during a fall. When it detects one, it contacts the monitoring center automatically — even if the button is never pressed. A monitoring specialist then speaks with you through the device to find out what help you need.
Does it work outside the home?
Yes. The device uses nationwide cellular coverage rather than a landline, so it works at home, in the yard, and anywhere you travel within cellular range. There is no base station and no home phone line required.
What is the free smoke alarm assessment?
When our technician installs your medical alert device, they will also walk the home and check every smoke alarm against current code — placement, age, and coverage in bedrooms, hallways and on each level. You get a written report of what they find. There is no cost and no obligation to buy anything.
Is there a contract?
Yes. Both plans require a 24-month minimum monitoring agreement. We tell you that up front rather than burying it — you will see the full term, the monthly amount and any early-termination terms in writing before you sign anything.
What does it cost?
Lease & Protect is $69.95 per month with the device included — $20 device lease plus $49.95 monitoring — and has no large upfront cost. Own & Protect is a one-time $249 device purchase plus $49.95 per month for monitoring. The optional caregiver app is $10 per month on either plan. Over the 24-month term that is $1,678.80 to lease, or $1,447.80 to own ($249 up front plus $1,198.80 in monitoring). Owning costs less overall; leasing avoids the upfront expense.
Who answers when the alarm goes off?
A trained monitoring specialist at a U.S.-based central station, staffed 24 hours a day, every day of the year. They speak with you through the two-way voice on the device and dispatch emergency services or contact your family based on what is happening.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 45 days on a single charge, so there is far less to remember than with devices that need charging every night.
Can my family be notified?
Yes. The optional caregiver app sends real-time alerts to family members so they know when an event occurs and what happened. It is $10 per month and can be added to either plan.
Does this replace calling 911?
No. A medical alert device is not a medical device and is not a substitute for emergency medical services. In a life-threatening emergency, always call 911. The system exists to get help to you quickly in the moments when you cannot reach a phone.
